Coach Hicks brings a wealth of experience and a passion for developing young athletes. With over 25 years of coaching experience, including Golf, Football, Basketball, Track and Bowling, he has a proven track record of success in building strong teams and fostering a positive team environment. Long Beach HS Girls Golf has two State Championships in 2021 and 2022, three District Championships 2021, 2022, 2023 and top 10 State finalists the last four years. LBHS Boys earned District Championship Runner up 2024. Long Beach MS Basketball earned District Championship 2024. Coach Hicks believes in a student-athlete-centered approach, emphasizing not only Golf, Basketball, or Track skills and knowledge but also character development, sportsmanship, and academic success. His coaching philosophy focuses on instilling discipline, teamwork, and a strong work ethic in his players. He is committed to creating a fun, challenging, and engaging environment where players can thrive both on and off the field.

LBHS Girls Golf Takes 5A State Title 2 years in a row

Congratulations to the Long Beach High School Girls Golf Team for winning the MHSAA 5A State Golf Championship. Seli Gundlach, Isabelle Burgess, Caitlyn Thornton and Gracie Bloom played 36 holes of golf at the Oaks Golf Club and had a two day first place score of 334. Lafayette HS placed second with a score of 379. Gracie Bloom shot an amazing 2 day total of 143 placing her as the 5A Individual State Champion for 2022! She had the top score in the state for all classes Wednesday breaking the 5A record at 6 under (66). Gracie and the Lady Bearcats made history this year with remarkable Back to Back State Championship Seasons. Great job this year Seli, Isabelle, Caitlyn, Gracie, Hailey Saddler, Adley Gates, Ella Bourland and Coach Hicks, we are so proud of you!
