LBHS Boys Cross Country Coach

Coach Hanes is a head coach for Long Beach Cross Country, and an assistant coach for Long Beach Track and Field, working primarily with long distance runners.  Coach Hanes has eighteen years of experience, with the last four years as a Bearcat.  Coach Hanes ran for Mississippi State University cross country and track teams, won two high school state championships in the 3200, and has head coached numerous regional championship teams.

LBHS Girls Cross Country

I graduated from Long Beach High School in 2013, then continued my playing career at Coahoma Community College.  After attending Coahoma, I attended the University of South Alabama where I obtained my bachelors degree in History and Secondary Education.  I have been teaching and coaching at LBHS since 2018.

Long Beach Cross Country 2024 Tryouts

Cross Country tryouts will be on Monday, May 13th.  Tryouts will take place at LBHS track from 3:25pm - 4:30pm.  Students trying out must turn in a tryout permission form to attend.  Middle school students can pick up permission forms in the LBMS office.  High school students can pick up permission forms from Coach Powell.  6th grade students can pick up permission forms in the Harper McCaughan office.  Tryout forms can also be found on the school district website. Coaches will go over more information and instruction at the tryouts.  If you have further questions, please email Coach Hanes, Coach Powell or Dr Shull.
