LBHS Tennis 2021 season is officially at an end.

The team competed in the individual state tournament this week in Oxford, MS. On the first day we had all 6 teams advance to quarterfinals. Quarterfinals began at 4pm that same day. After intense matches we had 2 teams advance to the semifinals on day two. Our quarterfinalists were Alexa Nanatovich, Caleb Solangi, Tim Stanley, Stokley Sawyer, Mallorie Rishel, and Emily Lyons. Reagan Picchi and Alex Hailes played their hearts out and came up short against Brookhaven, who went on to win the 5A mixed team title.

Alex and Reagan finished in the top 4 mixed teams in state. Ada Shirk and Lauren Bennett competed against Lafayette in the semifinals—the team that won 5A team state title earlier in the month. After 3 full sets and a rain delay in the middle of a match, the girls pulled out one of the greatest wins of the day—a huge upset for Lafayette’s girls doubles 2–advancing them to the finals. With a short break to beat the rain, Ada and Lauren went right back on the court to compete against Lafayette’s girls doubles 1. They kept their opponents on their toes, were tied many times and played long points. By the end of the match the girls earned 2nd place in the tournament out of 16 teams. Congratulations to our tennis team on a successful and amazing season!!!
