 Bearcat STEM Summer Camp
What:   A summer science and engineering camp for LBSD students who will be in 5th, 6th, or 7th grade during the 2015-16 school year
When:   June 16-18, 9:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.
Where:   LBHS Robotics & Engineering Lab
*fee includes one camp tshirt, camp journal, and snacks; students must bring their lunch each day 
Congratulations to the LBHS Robotics and Engineering Club's Bridge Building Team!
The team, composed of Unity Feldmeyer, Emma Hicks, and Kathy Rorabaugh placed second out of seventeen 9th and 10th grade teams from around the state at the Mississippi Department of Transportation TRAC Bridge Building Competition. Their cable-stayed bridge, which weighed less than one ounce, was able to withstand a force of 32 pounds before failure. The team also had to make a presentation to a panel of engineers before being considered for one of the top spots at the competition.

  • Auditions for next year's Bearcat Players will be held on Wednesday, May 6th after school. If you have questions or conflict, see Mrs. Warren in J-59.

  • The University of Southern Mississippi is hosting the Remembering Hurricane Katrina Multimedia High School Journalism Workshop. See Mrs. Tucker in the Career Center for more information. Deadline is May 9.

  • Students participating in athletics or band next school year and will be in 9th-12th grade next year have the opportunity for free physicals on May 16th. If interested in participating in band or athletics, please plan on attending the FREE physicals. Buses will leave the stadium at 8:30 a.m. to transport those interested. Parent permission forms will be available soon.

  • Students interested in joining the LBHS Concert Choir should see Mr. Walker in room J-58. Official auditions will be held May 4-8, but students may stop by anytime for information.

  • Attention Seniors: Class Orator tryouts will be held after school on Friday, May 1st. Please see Mrs. Farrell in room E-12 for information. The Class Orator is the person who gives the speech at graduation. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, April 29th.

  • The yearbook staff will be selling balloons for Senior Yearbook Night (May 7, 2015).  Balloons will be sold during lunches (11:30 a.m-1:05 p.m.) from April 20 - May1. Large mylar balloons will be sold for $4, and smaller latex balloons will be $1. These balloons and messages will be on the senior's chair at the program. Senior parents should have received a letter in the mail with additional details. You may also email Mrs. Crawford for further information (
